Camfrog Video Chat is a free chat application that lets you connect with people online. The platform delivers plenty of entertainment. You can instant message and video chat with friends and strangers. Camfrog lets you play games and send virtual gifts.
Camfrog was developed by Camshare and published by Paltalk Inc. Additional applications that are available by the publisher of Camfrog are Paltalk, Tinychat, and Vumber which are video chatting services. ManyCam, Skype, and Zoom are more professional alternatives to the entertainment apps by Paltalk Inc.
What is Camfrog app?
Camfrog Video Chat is a software that lets you connect with plenty of international users. You can meet new people and friends. Camfrog lets you jump into chatrooms in more than 5,000 chat rooms. Camfrog organizes the rooms into a variety of categories. You can enter into the nearest, newest, most popular, and promoted chat rooms. Additionally, rooms with the most active webcams are available.
Various information about the chatrooms is available to review before you join. Each room has a title and profile picture. The profile pics can represent what the topic of the group chat is about. You can see how many total users are in the room next to the person icon. The number of chat active webcams are listed beside the camera.
The chat rooms can include tags that let you better understand the groups. The available tags are: drama, international, politics, public speaking, etc. Each group chat can be rated and the average rating of each chat is publicly displayed. The gift status will be listed next to the group name.
You can hover above the names to view the name, category, gift status, and video resolution of each group. The list of users will be located on the right side of the screen when you are inside of a group. The user list will be organized into categories. The segments can be expanded and collapsed.
Users with their webcams turned on will be in the ‘You are viewing’ section. A complete record of users will be beneath the ‘Members’ title. You can learn more about each user by clicking on the usernames. The addition button next to the total number of users in the group lets you invite people into the chat.
The Camfrog user interface
The Camfrog Video Chat user interface is overwhelming. The intention of Camfrog is to connect you with people by giving you plenty of activities to do together. A lot of attention is placed on gifts. The leading and recent ‘gifters’ will be listed at the top of each chat. The live feed is located in the center of the chat room.
A running log of the entire chat can be seen. A scrollbar will appear when the dialog gets long enough. You will receive notifications in the live feed area when your webcam is viewed. You can see the usernames of the people who watch you. A text box is located under the feed to let you send messages. Emojis, gifts, and stickers are available to send as well.
The volume control is directly above the text box. You can slide the lever to change the volume. The settings button is beside the slider. The username of whoever is currently talking with their microphone on will appear beside the loudspeaker icon.
Each webcam that you choose to see will appear in individual windows. You can move the windows around your PC desktop screen. Each username is written above the camera view. If you turn your webcam on, then you will be able to see yourself in a window. You do not need to have your camera on to use Camfrog.
A variety of games are available for you to play with people. You can receive and send game invitations. The recipient needs to accept the challenge for the game to start. You can read the rules in the ‘Game rules’ section.
Personal chat rooms
You can create private or public chat rooms that are called ponds. Only the people with invitations can join the pond. You can start ponds by clicking on the ‘Create pond’ option in the ‘Camfrog’ main menu.
If you make a public pond, then your mutual friends can join by tapping the pond icon next to your username. You can invite people into ponds by right-clicking on their name to select ‘Invite to pond’. Recipients will be notified of the invite on their instant messaging screen. The pond will automatically close when the creator leaves the chat.
While Camfrog is free, a paid version is available to buy. The free download will let you have only up to three guests in a pond. The paid edition allows eight people to be in a single pond. You can receive and send files with Camfrog Video Chat Pro subscription plan.
While you can disable advertisements in the Pro version, the free edition shows ads in the user interface. The privacy policy lists the personal data that Camfrog collects. Your private information is shared with third-party companies that can track you.
An easy way to connect
Camfrog is a video chat app that is focused on entertaining an international audience. While Camfrog is not the best choice for professional video conferences due to the cluttered UI, the service is used for dating, friendships, etc. Camfrog lets you easily connect with people from around the world.

The lightweight software is available for Android, Apple iOS, and Microsoft Windows PC operating systems. The developers are actively updating the user experience. While new features are added often, the design is still slightly outdated.
